Formerly sold under the Ahura Scientific brand, Thermo Scientific portable optical analysers are rugged, ultra-compact, field-enabled spectroscopy instruments for rapid identification, authentication and screening of chemicals. Headquartered in Wilmington, Massachusetts, we put the power, reliability and accuracy of expensive, lab-based instruments in portable, rugged, easy-to-operate systems designed for field use. With customers in the homeland security, defence, aviation security, law enforcement, hazmat response, pharmaceutical and industry, our products are widely-deployed across the globe.

We offer complementary technologies for rapid, field-based chemical identification: Raman and FTIR spectroscopy. Applications include Explosives, Chemical Weapons, Hazardous Materials, Narcotics and Forensics, Toxic Industrial Chemicals, "White Powder" Identification, & Bottled Liquid Scanners (liquid explosives detection).

TruDefender FTX

TruDefender FTX

TruDefender FTX combines field-proven FTIR capability with a new anvil sampling head for easier sampling and decontamination.
Technology From: Thermo Scientific

TruDefender FTX™

TruDefender™ FTX from Thermo Scientific is a handheld chemical and explosives identification tool. It combines field-proven FTIR capability with a new anvil sampling head for easier sampling and decontamination.

The variable pressure knob allows technician to determine appropriate pressure for a given sample. A liquid containment moat helps prevent sample spills. TruDefender FTX features a reversible sampling accessory which protects samples from the elements and enables easy analysis of prills. It is easy to clean with highly polished, rounded corners. No crevasses or friction points to trap debris or explosives residue. In addition, the anvil rotates for easy sample placement and cleaning.
