Luxtron of the US is a world leader in helping customers measure temperatures and control processes in extremely hostile environments. Developing a reputation for high accuracy and repeatability, they build systems for fast, precise, reliable measurement of temperatures from -2000C to 4,0000C. They have met this challenge in such diverse fields from laser surgery to food packaging, from fibre optic cable manufacturing to microwave ovens, from integrated circuit chip processing to high-voltage transformers.
Luxtron's TrueTemp Low Temperature Sensors and Instruments - This line uses patented Fluoroptic sensors that are intrinsically safe and immune to electromagnetic interference. these systems operate within a -200°C to 450°C range. key applications include:
Microwave: Luxtron is the world leader for thermometry in this application, which includes microwave processing, packaging, R&D and chemical sample digestion. Luxtron provides real-time multipoint temperature data in the microwave oven environment
Medical technologies: Luxtron's thermometry systems are used to measure and control the heating process during thermal treatment of benign tumours through the application of localized heating using RF, to shrink the gland. Fibre optic thermometry for temperature sensing during hyperthermia is another Luxtron offering. Hyperthermia is an FDA approved form of benign tumour therapy that also uses RF or microwave energy to preheat tumours in combination with radiation or chemotherapy
Utility industries: Luxtron's ruggedized fibre optic probes are built into power transformers worldwide to help eliminate overheating, reducing power outages and ensuring operation within safe load limits. The probes reliably report internal temperatures every minute of every day. These sensors are chemically inert and are unaffected by extremely high voltages, magnetic fields and high temperature caustic oil baths. Customers can proactively make adjustments to the power grid before minor demand fluctuations cause major problems and blackouts
Luxtron's True Temp High Temperature Sensors and Instruments - these products use short wavelength pyrometry and blackbody sensing technology to provide high-precision temperature sensing solutions in hostile environments such as SPUTTERING applications, CVD, rapid thermal processing, FURNACES, combustion chambers, explosions. They are highly precise and accurate, and immune to electromagnetic interference. Their range of operation is 40°C to 4,000°C.
Luxtron's True Temp Non-Contact Temperature Systems - these products make a non-contact, in situ temperature measurement of filaments and surfaces, using patented convective heat flow technology. The line is designed to be used with moving objects in industrial processes such as in wire and optical fibre production. Their operating range is 10° to 300°C.
Marlow Industries Thermoelectric Coolers (TECs) have found them used in many distinct applications, ranging from space telescope cameras to medical laser equipment. A TEC is a small heat pump which has the advantage of no moving parts. TECs are used in various applications where space limitations and reliability are paramount and CFCs are not desired.
Marlow offers TECs designed to meet requirements for shape, size operation at various temperatures, voltage-current relationships, fast transient response, and high shock environments.
Applications can be found in many markets and OEM industries: Commercial water chillers, small refrigerators, iceboxes and coolers, military, infrared detectors, telecommunications, laboratory, constant temperature baths, medical blood analysers and diagnostic equipment, and aerospace. The range of heat pumping rates are in milliwatts to 100's of Watts and temperatures as low as -115°C.
