These instruments are calibrated to measure the spectral irradiance in units of watts per meter squared over the wavelength range in nanometres provided by the selected spectrometer model.

SpectroRadiometers

Wavelength Range: 200-1700nm

The StellarNet model spectrometers are great tools for low cost, routine analysis of all types of light. From measuring the irradiance of standard light bulbs to measuring the exact colour coordinates of the yellow in a traffic light. They are used worldwide to routinely analyse light.

These instruments are calibrated to measure the spectral irradiance in units of watts per meter squared over the wavelength range in nanometres provided by the selected spectrometer model. Warsash Scientific offer Radiometer systems in the 200-1700nm range. Calibrated spectroradiometers can be used to measure absolute intensity, xy chromaticity (CIE 1931), purity, correlated colour temperature, and dominant wavelength.

Optical filters are often used to attenuate certain wavelengths of light and produce an overall desired detector response.

Optical filters are often used to attenuate certain wavelengths of light and produce an overall desired detector response.

Interference filters rely on harmonic interference between waves to provide very narrow passbands. Thin metal films are spaced half the desired wavelength apart by a dielectric spacer. Interference filters are capable of bandwidths less than 10nm.

Absorptive filters typically consist of glass that has been doped with a concentration of dye that absorbs particular colours. Since spectral transmission varies logarithmically with thickness, the band pass can be reduced by thickening the filter.
